to do it right and keep your track width the same front/rear you would want to put spacers all around.
yes thats the wire! i think your ok i know of a few here running this way. alot of local 99-04 SD's running the newer wheels with no spacers. just dont turn sharp LOL hard to do with these beasts i know.

If you do get any size spacer make sure that they are hubcentric (rim weight is carried by the hub with no weight on the lugs, they just hold the rim tight to the hub.) as the truck and wheels are designed to be, using lugcentric (rim center hole makes no contact with the hub ring, all weight is carried by the studs) spacers puts a lot more stress on the lug studs than they were not designed for. If you don't go with spacers I would be interested to see a photo of the truck with the new rims from the rear showing how much more narrow the track width looks compared to stock.
