So i just bought a mint 82 f150 . This truck has sat for a year or two and it was well maintained so far . I notice low to no oil pressure on the gauge wen it is running and a light ticking from the engine and even thou the temp gauge says
its normal temp i think its hot. So my plan is to drop the oil pan replace the oil pump. Is this a hard job on a 302 and what else would you recommend i do?
I second that. It is far easier to replace the sender than the oil pump. And, beyond that, the gauges on these trucks are notorious for being just flat wrong. The Instrument Cluster Voltage Regulator is fraught with problems, and if it goes awry your fuel level, water temp, and oil pressure gauges will be wrong. So many of us run mechanical or electrical aftermarket gauges to find out what the temp and oil pressure actually are.
I would replace the sender first and if that doesn't show you have pressure then I'd install an aftermarket gauge(s) to see what the pressure is, long before pulling the pan and replacing the pump.
