Ford F-350, 7.3 problems
I have a 2002 F-350, 7.3. I had a new key made for it. They told me there was not chip in the key. When I tried the new key, the truck started. I was on the phone for about 1 and 1/2 minutes with the truck idling. Then it just shut down. I tried the old key and it would do nothing. I disconnected the batteries and cleaned the post. Reconnected and nothing. Radio worked lights all gauges worked, but it would no turn over. Tried jumping it. Nothing. Had it towed to service and they told me it was the starter. Why would a starter kill an engine that was already running? Batteries were charged so it shouldn't have been the alternator. The original key has a slight indentation on it with an (S) stamped over it but I was told that was not a chip. What is wrong.

Pat, I cut your post from the thread you posted in because that thread is dedicated to users who are having problems with their paid membership status. Plus, this way you have your own thread where people can chime in and help you get diagnosed and fixed!

PS - You do not have a PATS chipped key.
