1999 Explorer Ecu/tranny computer
i want to reset them both what fuse is the one i oull out to do so i lost the manuel it is a 1999 explorer xlt 4x4 sohc i know the battery methoud but would prefet to do it through the fuse box

By this time you have probably figured this out , but here goes. The reason I think that you do not want to reset the PCM/CPU by removing the negative cable from the battery is to avoid erasing your stereo settings. This is understandable and is quite annoying. What I have read that can be done to avoid this is to hook up a large lantern style battery to a male cigarette lighter plug. This can be used to retain power to your stereo. Although, now that I think about I am curious to whether the CPU would also recieve power and defeat the entire purpose. Something to think about........

Just for future info for anyone else that reads this - if you remove the bolt from the center of the wiring harness, it will loosen the harness plug on the PCM. Take it off, and count to 10, then put it back and tighten it up. It will reset your PCM the same as disconnecting the battery, exceot you will not lose memory settings on your radio, etc...
