rust shield cleans up with thinner just fine..por15...nope.that there is nasty...but it has to be topcoated if in the sun at all!!! don't ask how I know that.

rust shield, make sure you let it dry.its a 1k and does not cure.It dries and if you topcoat it too soon...that's bad!! ask me how I know. I know a guy that absolutely swears by the rust shield. For me,the jury is out as of now.The stuff we have used it on has not been out long enough to be sure. Bill has probably the best test bed right there going on with his frame.

I was wondering if I would have to take the underside of the cab to bare metal, or just clean and sand whats there. its a real clean cab, i would like to keep it that way

Rust shield has to dry fully between coats?

I've only used it on my sand blasted frame, so I can't say how it would do over paint. Seems like the buddy that turned me on to it, only used it on bare or rusty metal. I don't know if I would try to use it on a painted surface. Call the number on their website and talk to them. I called and asked about what kinds of paint I could paint over it with, and the guy I talked to was very helpful.

I'l have to do that. I know por15 is all about the prep, and it usually doesn't work well over anything but bare metal. if I blast or strip the underside of the cab, i don't want to mess up the factory paint on the rockers and cab corners, its still good shape.

The POR15 will not stick to clean bare metal. It has to be blasted or rusty for it to stick.

Just before top coating.if you seal over it before its dry with like an epoxy primer...it does NOT dry...

I was planning on leaving it as is with no top coat, they have that hardener as well that is supposed to make it more durable.

Looks like an awesome project! Once you get it done you will have to tell us how the ES bushing work as for ride! I was curious about it myself, and put off going that direction for the time being when i did my Gasser to PSD swap. I tell ya though, there is nothing better then putting one together from the ground up and enjoying it afterwards!!!

ha, nothing ever goes as planned, and i never get as much done as I want to.

I did buy myself something this weekend though

It is sure nice to have a compressor that doesn't run out of air constantly. being able to use an air chisel vs an angle grinder is so much easier and faster for getting rivets out. I got most of the brackets and the crossmembers off that i want to replace. Next weekend I should actually get to painting frame

my new shackles and hangers came in too. every ford i have had they rot right apart.

Looks like you're making some progress! That compressor will make a world of difference.

all the rivets are out, frame is stripped and ready for sandblasting

weather permitting , hopefully these will be sandblasted, and I can finally get some paint on this long weekend and start the reassembly process
