A little more power, lot less turbo lag, you don't need to cut much of the core support to fit the pipe, and the Banks intercooler fits perfect in the same spot. Turns out my old stock intercooler was leaking a bit. Also did the dieselsite hoses and clamps, they blew off a couple times, but some re-tighten and re-adjustments later seems o.k.
There is quite a bit of grinding to do, I hope you have access to an air 'die' type grinder. OH, and be careful around those A/C lines as that can get expensive if you touch one of those with the grinder. This is what it looks like when the stock one is in place

WOW........ i proably would not have cut the core support up like that..... i ran the flow-pro pipe and only had to gind a small area about a 1/8 to 3/16 to get it to fit. There are pipes on the market now that will fit with no cutting or grinding that where not aviable when i did mine a few years ago. I would go with one of those now if i had a choice.
I best quality intercooler pipes I have seen are the no limit IC pipes. Great fit and great finish. You can find them in a kit with the boots from Elite Diesel and a few other venders, kit also includes the intake elbow if you are removing the EGR valve and doing an EGR delete as well.
Because they can...lmao! With my Spartan tune im pushing about 42lbs of boost, so I really did the full metal intercooler more for reliability. I also read the one from Banks has the most airflow through it for engine cooling, etc.
