cargo trailers with sleeper partition.

I'm looking to replace my old moving truck with a new ecoboost pickup and a 20-22' enclosed trailer. I checked in another forum and if I equip the f150 with max tow, max payload and a weight distributing hitch I shouldn't have any trouble towing a 10,000 loaded trailer.

I'm wondering if it would be safe and legal to make a partition in the front of a bumper pull cargo trailer like the one pictured below. I'd like a partition right behind the side entry door you see on car haulers. No propane or plumbing. Just a place to throw down a matress and sleep.

My biggest concern is what happens if you shift the load further back on the axles and have less weight in the front. I saw some cargo trailers that had sleeping quarters built into them, but most were fifth wheels and I want something I can tow with an ecoboost.

I don't think any of that would be a real problem. But I am thinking by the time it is all said and done that you will be over what the eco can safely tow.

What type of work or pleasure are you going to do with this setup? How often and far?

I might suggest that you consider a F250 with either the 6.2 gas motor or 6.7 diesel. Then you will not run out of capacity out the gate.

what senix said !

and I might add, pay attention to the gvwr of your new truck to ensure you don't have to do what I did, trade a 1 year old truck with 10k gvwr in on a new one with 11.5k gvwr to safely 'carry' your load ! good luck !

What are you going to haul? The last Play Mor 20-foot toy hauler I had was partitioned and the weight wasn't anywhere close to 10,000 by my recall. Regardless, you do want the appropriate percentage of your gvw on the tongue for stability, which I think is the basis of your question.

I have a small moving business. So boxes, furniture and appliances mainly. Most of my customers are young people and don't have more than 1-2 tons.

I'm looking at getting a 20-22 foot car hauler trailer and a new ecoboost pickup. I want the option of moving some cars.

My problem is what to do with myself if I do a move out of town, and have to wait a couple of days for a load to take back. I can occupy myself with a fishing pole and a newspaper. But it would be nice to have a small personal space where I could sleep and rig up a portable shower. Nothing fancy, just a matress on the floor and a couple pails of water for washing up.

Yes. That, and the legality of building a partition inside a trailer used for commercial transport.

Hmmm....
would a temporary partition be something of interest to you?
something easily set up and taken down to give you full use if need be?
Heck, I even had insulated drapes in my hippy dippy van in the day and they worked well for light and air blockage !!! and easily tied back.

if you say you just want a place to sleep....
there are NICE air mattresses that would work,
put a small a/c in the front,
a small light,
and u got it !!!
