I need your help immediately. I am going to the store to pick up a Borg-warner clutch to put in my truck monday morning. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with this line of clutches? The retailer offers two clutch kits for $220 and $420. I think the second was dual friction but NAPA's website was not very clear. I was going to go with the Centerforce but I have a connection that will get me a considerable discount. Please respond. All information on Borg-warner clutches (specifically the Item# that Napa carries) would be appreciated. Also please include any good advice. I am quite capable, but I haven't met anyone who knows it all (only those who entertain the thought themselves). Thank you in advance!
Yeah Millertime, while I was doing the nasty with my transmission I did notice a Borg-Warner birthmark on the transfer case. Unfortunately, I relied on alot of second-hand information on this job. The clutch the guy got me was from "Auto specialty" a division of Lucasvarity.??? I was a little unhappy. Oh well. I was suprised to find that my 4x4 was using a 10-inch clutch which goes against what I have read (although my owners manual says I should have dual tanks also!). At least now I have an 11-inch clutch even if I am not familiar with who makes it. My old clutch disc had "swarmed" on me, broken spring. The truck "feels" a whole lot better with the 11-inch clutch, very solid compared to the old setup. Thanks anyway!
Borg Warner stock replacement parts (notice that I said "stock" there, not performance) are excellent. Unfortunately, they tend to be overpriced almost everywhere!
