fuel filters are 200 miles old and are OEM....
i pulled the spring and regulator out and all looks ok.
I think i will play on the safe side and replace the HFCM and regulator.
here is a pic of the regulator and spring does anyone see anything wrong if so let me know!!!!!
Doesn't look like mine did -- I didn't have the black piece the brass valve went to that I recall. And my spring was actually blue, but maybe that comes off?
On edit Edogs: looking back at Rusty's picture, you may have the old style and need the o-ring...
The lights just came on!!!!!!
looking at Rusty's post from the tech. folder in post #1 he shows the assembly drawing. Oring, black bushing, brass valve with molded Oring, then spring (mine was blue when it was installed) then cover.
It looks like I'm missing the first Oring. So its off to the dealership first thing Tuesday for a new kit.
Thank you mustang and deisel dan for hanging with me on this reps sent
First.... I would like to let diesel dan know I need to spread some reps around before I rep you again.
So i went and got a new kit, disassembled every thing. Tried to use the black oring but it's to big and the black bushing would not fit in the housing.
So I tried the green o ring and the bushing fit. Reassembled hooked up test gauge turned key on and what do you know 65psi. So my lesson for today is pay attention to the instructions and don't throw away your old parts
That's great news! I'm constantly in rep "jail" - there are quite a few helpful folks here and I try and spread the wealth, but invariably it's often the same very knowledgeable guys that have a lot of the answers.
So now next time this subject comes up it'll be your turn to be the expert!
