It should be dry as a bone and probably will have black soot all around it. If it is wet, you either have coolant or oil in there. Neither is good.
It has soot, but it is wet down in the bottom. Ive been trying to track down some possible high coolant temps on my truck. Thought it was a gauge issue, but today i blew a bunch of coolant out of my degas bottle. Ive read a wet egr valve could mean bad egr cooler or bad oil cooler.
Keep searching on the site for more info on spewing coolant out the degas bottle, ruptured egr coolers, oil coolers and wet intakes under the egr valves... If you can, stop driving the truck and get to the bottom of this... Hopefully it is only oil/egr coolers and not head gaskets. I hope you caught it on time. Good luck!
