2005 F-250 6.0L CrewCab Lariat 2WD. Left at lunch today with the camper in tow heading for the beach. 12 miles from home the engine died, shifted into neutral and restarted but felt like I had very little power when I pressed the accelerator. Shifted into neutral again, engine was still running so I shifted back into gear and still felt I had very little power. Coasted into a parking lot across from a friends garage. He had left, but his mechanic came over to take a look. Engine would turn over but not crank up. We noticed that we could not hear the fuel pump at all when I turned the key on. I went and got a new fuel pump and installed in and when I went to clip the wire harnesses in, I noticed that it only had 2 connection plugs. The plug for the fuel heater was not on the new pump. The new pump came with a new harness that didn't have the connector for the fuel heater. When I finished the installation, the truck fired right up. It ran a little rough for a few minutes and then died again. I cranked it again and it ran for about 30 seconds and died again. Tried again but no start. Waited about 30 minutes but no start again. I have a SGII...checked for codes, no codes found. Where do I start?
Oil pressure gauge coming up during crank? -may take a few seconds but it should.
Check ICP and IPR. ICP needs to be more than 500 psi to start .- if not unplug ICP and retry to start.
check FICM power.- should be 45v+
Check for fuel pulse width reading to not be 0.- if FICM is firing injectors it has sync, as well as cam and crank sync.
Check rpm during crank.- should be 150-160 or more.
Check upper fuel filter bowl for quick filling.- pull the cap and filter, soak out some fuel if possible, doesn't have to be empty.flipping the key on count to two slowly, flip it off,(don't crank it) bowl should have overflowed.
