Hi I was wondering if anyone has built or installed rock sliders/nerf bars on there Ex's? I am looking to get rid of my running boards and either building rock sliders or nerf bars that can take abuse and also ro lift Ex up if need be with Hi-Lift. I am planning on using my Ex as an expedition/trail vehicle to take family out camping and exploring. we did and do the whole camper at a resort thing before and now using my parents camper on a lake. Just think it would be fun to go off the beaten path and use a SUV tent like this one SUV Tent With Screened Room Model. Thanks for all or any information and input.

I used an aftermarket tube step as a starting point then welded some heavy 3" square tube to them under the rocker area, added a bunch of gussets, reinforced the OEM mounting points with plate steel and tied them all together with diamond plate standing surfaces.
I added them to protect the body against the odd grounding. They have taken a few hits so far without any issues but I wouldn't expect them to survive a really heavy pounding. I can jack on them for recovery.
I searched around for getting some PreFabricated ones a couple of months ago
and find these Toyota, Suzuki Samurai, and Jeep Off Road Parts
They are for Toyotas a Suzukis but a lenght of 78" should fit our Ex almost.
At least with some minor customizing in lenght and depths but the mainwork
of the sliders is done at a reasonable price in my opinion.
Thanks for all the replies, now I just need to decide what I am going to do. Bjm206 nice looking Ex, whose bumpers are you running. Jdw1 just the factory tan running boards, the supports that run the length of the running boards were rusted out so PO replaced them with something I think he said some garage door track or something can't quite remember for sure. I will be doing it this coming fall or winter, if I can save uo enough funds. Everything I do is a tight budget. I still need to get some B codes for rear & new shocks so I can do spring swap.

Yes I found d some really low mileage X code's with less than 5000 miles on them from a 00 F350. The guy I got them from bought the truck new and a lift kit right away and I stalled lift kit a few months the later. Had springs sitting on the shelf for the last 13 years they actually look new . Let me know on the rear springs, do you happen to know mileage on them. I will keep you updated on running boards & read springs if I don't find some before then. Thanks Randy
