1990 F-150 4.9L Inline 6
Hey ya'll,
I'm new to this thread forum, so I'm gonna give it a go. Anyway my point being forgotten long ago.
I wanna "bulk up" my 1990 F-150 4.9 a little bit. As far as I know its all stock, I'm plannin on puttin straight piped flowmasters with chrome tips to make sound mean. I'm also plannin on puttin a K&N cold air intake on it. Brush guard, flood lights, fog lights, dixie horn and bigger speakers in it.
Anyone got anymore ideas??? I just don't wanna go "overboard" with it, I don't wanna put anything on it that will wear down the motor too fast, additionally I don't wanna give up any fuel mileage (which is right now at 16avg). I would just like some more ponies.
Thanx to anyone who helps.

Sorry but no matter what exhaust you put on the straight six, upper RPM's it's going to sound terrible. Also, cold air intake on a 4x4 (I'm assuming it's a 4x4) is a bad idea. Engines don't like to suck up water FYI. And finally, these trucks have terrible alternators, they can barely keep up with the electrical demands of the truck in FACTORY conditions. Big subs and lights will only worsen the load on the electrical system. I'm no expert on the straight six but if the factory ever put a 3g alternator on them, you need to convert to that set up so you can have enough power to run your lights and subs.
