Question another oil additive question

Wondering if it is beneficial, wise or unwise to use Slick50 or any of the other additives that are supposed to "super coat"or "super lubricate" the bearings, cyllinders etc? I know that the 4.6 and 5.4 engines have some pretty close bearing tolerances ( or so I amtold by a Ford Tech), so Im wonderingab out any possible bad side effects if a person were to use something like this.

It's got PTFE (teflon) in it, which is a solid which will clog up your oil filter, forcing it into bypass mode. Dont use it.

Use a good petroleum based oil (like Castrol), that is the recommended viscosity for your engine, change it frequently
(3000 - 4000 miles), and use a Motorcraft oil filter. Do this,
and DO NOT use any additives, and you will run for a long time!!

Just my $0.02.....

As Rusty states, it has teflon in it but clogging the filter is the least of the problems it can cause. It can also block oil passages especially where the passages turn. It has a tendency to stack up in the corners and close the passage off. Your Triton engine was the first American engine employing moly-plasma technology, it does not need nor require any additives. Use a good grade oil, and change it often, and it should give you several hundred thousand miles of service.

another oil additive question

Like many similar "miracle" oil additives that get pitched on TV during the wee hours of the morning, Feds went after Quaker State/Slick 50 back in 1996 for false and deceptive advertising:

Quaker State/Slick 50 settled and had to give back to consumers some serious dough ($10M) in rebates and also curtail their ads:

another oil additive question

Thanks for the info.. I used Slick 50 in several rigs and had no problems with it. but I also change my oil every 2000 to 3000 miles, regardless of manufacturers recommendations. My manual says to use 5w-30 year around and thats what I use. Its lighter than what I used in my 289, 302s, etc, but I'll go with the book for a change.
