Front Grunt? Grind behind? Annoyer Avoiders!
I had a rattle under the hood. It's not always easy to pick out rattles and squeaks on our rigs, that's not a creampuff under there. Opening the hood and scouting for subtle sounds is... well... prevented by the prodigious piston party, inches away.
I was wrenching on Stinky yesterday and I bumped the IC hot tube. I heard one "tic" of a rattle that's been challenging my chi for a long time. "I know that freaking sound. Come to me, my pretty... and your little dog, too."
I grabbed the pipe and started shaking it until I could locate the contact point. It was hitting a fitting on the pump of power (steering). I loosened both CAC boots on either end of the driver-side IC tube and rotated the tube out as far as it would go (not a lot of clearance in there). I then tightened the clamps and the tube could no longer reach the power steering pump... the tube was "floating" again. "Up your nose with a rubber hose, Mr. Rattle."
It really was a miracle that I found that obscure noise... so I had this hairless-brained idea to post it and ask "What obscure sound have YOU stumbled upon?" Let's gang up on these things, and let them know we're at the top of the food chain. Who's with me? "The Avengers" is already copyrighted... we'll call ourselves "The Avoiders".
