Infinity is super easy and is a lot faster than AE..Here is a couple of pics of it mounted in my truck..

Nice, neet and out of the way..Ready for any issue that comes along..You and start data logging at any second and it backs up 90 seconds to catch that famous hick-up..Like I said AE is good but then the lap top has to be in the truck..Pricing well, AE and a taptop is way more than Infinity, seeing most are using tablets which the last I heard AE will not work with.. There just my 02..

That's a great looking way to mount it!

Yes, datalogging an event that has already happened is a nice feature and I have done that a few times. Makes it so much easier to see what went on during the "hiccup".

I'd be willing to kick in some cash so tugly could buy one and have a dedicated thread for it.
Flavo: I'd be willing to send Tugly a $10 rubber check for tuition to a DP Infinity class. If you start up a thread soliciting $10 class tuition to Tugly, I will back channel pm/arm twist Justin to see if Diane and Jody would give Tugly an undisclosed discount to head up the class.

Obviously, everyone would get to participate in the class, tuition or not, just like participating in FTE, supporter or not. And I doubt we would have to raise the full amount of the cost (slightly discounted? hint, hint) to encourage Tugly to bite at (buy) one. (The guy is so intellectually curious I am sure he wants one anyway. So, our goal is to express enough appreciation (by a little money) so as to push him over the edge to buy a DP Infinity and teach us not just about how to use it (if Justin and Joey are right, it is "easy" to "use"), but to teach us what the friggin' numbers/graphs/data which it puts out actually mean about our engines.

Given the amount of effort the guy has put out educating FTE on AE (and no doubt all the pm's he has likely fielded from all of us on it and other matters) I would think he is the best one to teach the remedial and upper division DP Infinity class.

What say you?

(I'm kinda wondering if we should all kick in $10 ea as class tuition to Tugly so that he can buy an Infinity and hold class on it ...)
1. Not sure, but I trust DP-Tuner. I really haven't looked into anything else. I'm focused on my Mustang at the moment. The truck is just my do everything without a complaint vehicle and unfortunately is down below the Boss, the Pelican, and the Dune Buggy on the funding priority list- which pretty much means nothing other than oil and filters!

2. Again, I've liked my DP-Tuner for the years that I've had it. I think I looked at the Infinity once and like it.

My beef with AE is I bought that expensive hardware / software setup and now that I have a new laptop they're saying they "can't" read: won't, generate a new code so I can use the freakin' hardware I paid hundreds for. They said I'd have to pay $50 to get another code. After weeks of being pissed I sucked it up and paid the fifty bucks. Then they said my hardware was no longer compatible and would have to buy new hardware. WTF ! I had them return my money.

Now that I have my HPOP gauge permanently on the dash I only really need a code reader at this point which is another reason I haven't looked into options. I have a smog check coming this fall so I'll need a code reader or use of someone's this summer after replacing glow plugs since I know I have a code/CEL for that.

Someone set up a donation bucket on gofundme and I'll gladly give $10 to the tugster.

Ok, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll look into that gofundme thing this evening and report back. EDIT: Let's re-address this on Tues. Have a great Memorial weekend!

We don't need to make this a second business for him, just enough $ to push him into buying a DP Infinity and to guilt trip him into spending some of his boating time with us showing how to put it to best use and what the data it spits out all means.

Get a head count first somehow. Two weeks should be long enough to fish out everyone who is willing. Then divide up the discounted number. I don't think it will be much for everyone at all.

So am I going to have issues if I try to install my old AE onto a different laptop? I was also planning on buying another bundle to include Mercedes, just wondering what issues I might encounter.

It depends on how old your AE is. I think mine is close to ten years old and they no longer support the hardware. You should get 3 codes over the life of the product IIRC, but that doesn't take into account the planned obsolescence issue I ran into. You should email them.
