I want to disable the "key in ignition" chime in my 2000 exp. sport and I can't find it (sounds like its behind radio) can someone tell me? Also are these SUV's really offroad worthy? (not gonna enter a baja comp.........just fool around a little in the wood's) Thanks in advance................................. Stu
You cant simply unplug the chime like you could in older vehicles. It is part of the GEM module that is behind the radio.
You can probably remove the steering column covers to get at the ignition lock cylinder and disable it there though by bending or cutting the tab that contacts the lock cylinder.
Sorry, I'm beat tonight and cant describe it any better than that
