I think so. I have 20" wheels and my spare is 18". Dealer said that it's still a spare and should only be used for short distances even though it's a full size spare. I think the 20" is an issue for spare. 18 should be fine.
I have a 34" diameter spare on an 18" wheel. It's like a total of 9". I put a heat shield between the exhaust and the pipe. So far no issues. Spare is for emergencies anyway. I get a flat, I'm calling a flatbed to tow it in.
I would like to see a tow truck get down some of my farm roads...lol.
I'll end up changing the tire anyways and then pulling out the stuck truck so he can haul mine away .
I'll change it and limp to the nearest decent fuel station and then call AAA.
Kper...that's exactly why I have a spare. To get me to where I can get towed out. I hope I don't ever loose a tire or have a problem when we are 4 wheeling with the trailer. It would be tough to get to for sure.
