I recently purchased a 06 f250 on the way to work this morning the turbo would boost up but not pull the truck it started puffing air out like a waste gate almost but I know the truck doesn't have one it also was pouring black smoke out the tailpipe I was wondering what y'all thought
Do you have any gauges that read live data like scan gauge II or a smartphone app like dashboss for IOS ( an absolute necessity in diagnosing these trucks )? Is it showing any DTC? Have you ever pulled and cleaned the EGR valve? How does the air filter look?
Don't have any gauges except what on dash I cleaned the egr valve about 2 weeks ago, ill have to check it when I get home was gonna clean the air filter also I'm at a loss don't know what it could be I'm new to the diesel world, it also had a new map sensor put on and fuel filters changed a few weeks back and had code p0069 code
You could try it but if the valve is stuck open it won't help. How did the egr valve look when you took it out to clean it? How did you clean it and did you live the orings with oil before you reinstalled it?

sorry that was meant to be " did you lube the orings on the EGR valve before you reinstalled it "
Damn smartphones.
When you let off the gas pedal, did it sound like a 'fluff fluff fluff' out the intake? How many miles on ol girl? Id guess your turbo needs a good cleaning. and learn how to exercise it. A gauge system can read your turbo and make sure its cycling and free moving. Sounds like the turbo vanes are stuck from idling too long. Every once in a while you gotta put the pedal to the floor and open these turbos and engines up.
She's got 143k bone stock I hooked up the computer to it after work no codes and you can hear the turbo but it doesn't boost up and yeah it was three puffs I noticed some black type fluid that was sticky on the hose off the turbo like I said you can here it boost up but it will not kick in
The mechanic says the truck has 3 bad injectors and possibly a stopped up catalytic converter he suggested sea foam for the injectors to see if it would be a quick fix if not the trucks gonna have to set cause I ain't got the money for injectors

Seafoam won't help bad injectors and I very seriously doubt you have a stopped up converter, although anything is possible. What kind of oil are you running and how often do you change it? Also, do you use Motorcraft filters and have you had the fuel pressure tested?
When I got my truck the turbo ended up doin that fluffin out the intake and losin power then overboostin with black smoke out exhaust. and my turbos center housing rotating assembly was seized up with a bad actuator and two bad injectors bad egr valve and cracked ypipe. $2400 later she was good. I also hollowed out my cat converter. Knowing what I know now I would have done it all myself and saved some money. Get a Scan gaugeII so you can read FuelInjectionCM volts. I think theres some stuff like rev-x or something that's supposed to clean injectors on the oil side. I run fuel additive all through the winter. and definitely get a fuel pressure gauge. Then you should have a pretty good eye on your fuel system. But black smoke out the exhaust.. id say a bad injector.

When the vanes stick, it causes exactly what you described. The turbo needs to be taken off, taken apart and cleaned. Occasionally, the problem can be caused by a bad VGT solenoid, but my money would be on sticky vanes.
