On my 54' Ford f100 I have a old 3 speed manual transmission on the floor. I can here that my throw out bearing needs to be replaced so my question is this. How the hell do I find the right parts for this old thing? The casing says (af-7006-D 23). I type this in to google and I dont find what I need to know. Can someone please help me?
Floor shift on a '54? What engine? Somewhere something has probably been modified? Do you possibly have a side shift with aftermarket floor shift adapter? And then there is the matching of the TO bearing to the clutch. You may be able to tell more by dropping the flywheel cover? To be safe, pull and match. While you're looking at the clutch, make sure you have lots of friction thickness left. I would never go to the work of pulling the transmission unless I pulled the clutch for inspection.
Wouldn't a floor shift be the HD 3-sp? Did they still use those in the midfifties?
Gary, For about $20, you can get the Parts CD that gives you all the parts numbers and shows exploded drawings of everything in the truck. HiPo Parts Garage For $25 - 30 you can get a workshop manual, off eBay. I wouldn't even try owning one of these without both.
the xx-7006 perked my curiosity... the old old 4 speed spur is 59T-7006 on the passenger side, sooo let me ask, is that the only casting on it? Is that casting on the passenger side and there is something else on the driver side?
dig all the numbers up you can, take a look at the chart and if it's not on there and you figure out more please tell me so I can add it to the data:
