92 f250 e40d with approximately 80xxx miles slipped when taking off yesterday going to work. Checked codes and getting a 14 & 29. Just replaced the vss but will replace again. The 14 is the tach sensor I believe so tested the ohms and its reading 2,400 so it should be good. Checked fuses in the cab and they all looked good. Now checking the fuses under hood but there are 4 or 5 that "control the transmission". Which one should I check? Also, can the tach sensor still be bad even though it reads in the right ohm range (read that the ohms are supposed to be between 2000 and 3000 ohms)? Anything else i need to check? Ps I have a trans commander but just bypassed it to remove it from the possible problem and clearing codes. Check codes again tomorrow after I replace the vss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
do you notice either the tach (code 14) or speedo (code 29) needles reading incorrectly, skipping,or not working at all?
for the fipl/tps (code 23) did you hold WOT while scanning the codes? if not,23 is sent.
I held wot until the test started. Do you hold wot the entire tests? Anyways just finished putting new FIPL on and adjusted, after warming the truck up, and have it set at 1.1 idle and 4.1 wot. Why would it be tight inside the acceptable limit? Seems strange... I wanted to set it higher but threw me out side of the 1.1. I got the code 14 when I first tested it but didn't after I cleared codes. I tested the tach sensor and it tested at 2400 ohms.

code 14 (tach sensor/wiring issue) may not return until you drive the truck for a bit again after clearing the code.don't be surprised if it returns shortly.
