No AC compressor!
No AC compressor!
Well it seems like getting one thing fixed, something else comes up. This one needs to be done stat though.
So today I decided to go to walmart, pick up a few things, and realized I had no AC. So stopping by O'Rilley's on the way back, I picked up a recharge, turned the truck on, turned the AC on full blast, Put the recharge nozzle in, and squeezed the trigger.
It was about 85 degrees out today, so I adjusted the dial to fill to the correct pressure. I got it filled to the correct PSI, and the next thing I noticed was the smell.
A few seconds later, I noticed "smoke" coming out of the AC compressor. I asked clerk and he said the seals busted, but the compressor clutch wasn't moving, and then it would jump, not move, jump, and not move. The entire time, it was venting freon out of the front of the compressor.
The cost of a new compressor clutch is about 40$ less than just buying a complete kit online with a new condenser, accumulator, orifice tube, o-rings and PAG oil.
My question is, if I go with a whole new kit, is there anything else I should replace while I'm doing this? My condenser possibly?
Since I won't have to worry about bleeding the system, it's going to do that all on it's own anyway. I would like get a bleed kit, but with the seals gone, every time I run the truck it's going to keep bleeding out anyway.
The joys of 232k miles.

Bleed ac?
Do the whole kit.flush everything twice and backwards...add correct amount of oil and have it filled after a proper vaccum has been administered if having correct ac iis so important.that's how i would...so much better than hearing cimplaints from my girls!
btw...325k...ice cold ac baby!
