First, I want to say thank you to everyone for the wealth of knowledge and experience that is here. It has helped me immensely.
Now for my questions: I have a 1996 5.0L F150 XLT 4x4 that needs a new engine and a new radiator core support. I just scored a local core for $45 with absolutely no rust and will be putting it in this summer. I've also located a complete 1994 F150 5.0 XLT 4x4 auto and will be checking it out tomorrow. If I can get this for a good price I'm thinking I can swap out the 5.0 engine and other parts. I need to see what auto trans it has, but I'm hoping its the 4R70W like I have in the '96. The 94 supposedly has new brakes all around, too.
As for the 5.0L engine is it as simple as just using my engine harness, swapping my harmonic balancer with the tone ring, and using the sensor? Are the other emissions items the same between 94 & 96 like the AIR pipes and EGR? Any known obstacles I may encounter?
94 is OBD1 and my 96 is OBD2
Are the brakes the same? Body parts, like bumpers and grilles should swap, right?
The 1996 5.0L engine uses a different EGR feedback, DPFE, instead of EGR Valve Position (EVP) sensor. The EGR tube is also different between the two. You can swap the pieces between the engines.
