computer
It's never a bad idea to reset the computer after installing a mod. Resetting allows the computer to refine all the various aspects of the engine performance to "deal with" the new setup. 1997'Exped got it right - just disconnect the battery. The shortest amount of time I've found is about 7 minutes (go ahead and disconnect it for 1/2 hour anyway. Won't hurt). When you start the truck after reconnecting the battery, all the guages should jump to the max, stay for a second, then drop back down. This indicates that the computer has been reset.
While you're at it, I've got a great mod for your K&N that will lower the noise level considerably, as well as do away with any whistling noises you might notice. Get a length of 1/4" heater hose (about 25" long) and use it to replace the piping that runs from the IAC (right behind the throttle body) around the the intake. Inline between the IAC and the intake, you're going to find a couple of hard plastic tubes, a small plastic canister, and possibly a few other thingamajigs. Yank everything out and replace the whole mess with the 25" length of hose. The hard piping has a tendency to whistle (even with a stock intake) and an aftermarket performance intake tends to amplify this a whole lot. You'll notice that everything is overall quieter.
Let me know if you need more detailed instructions. It's 3:45am here and I'm tired.
Take care!

Also, thanks again for that TSB, I loved handing that to the dealer.
