Well i replaced my radiator because i broke the little nipple on the degas return line and i was losing coolant like crazy. Well it was still losing coolant after a new radiator so i replaced the water pump and im not leaking coolant at all anymore.
Before all this, after towing 4k all day my EOT would get up to 202 or so and ECT 195 197. Now after the work, my EOT gets up to like 217 and ECT at 210. Also my trans temp would never go over 165 and now its gettin up to 180. Anybody know whats goin on? any opinions or anything would be greatly appreciated.
Is that what your supposed to do when you swap radiators? I just hate having to open that degas cap and weaken that spring. And yes im using 5050 mix of ford gold and distilled with a replacment oem radiator. But since my trans temp has been going up to, i guess it is related to my radiator. I didnt know trapped air could raise the temp. I only got it up to 190 today and i purged the air but monday when i dog it ill check it again. thanks for the input.
O i know. i was thinking that too. Its about 85 here in virginia right now. But its the fact that the numbers are different from usual. and its after i did work. Have you heard of air trapped in the system getting the EOT up? along with the tranny? Is it spec to start up the truck before finally closing the degas cap after the install?
that would be the one thing make sure the fan is pluged in.
the radiator has an oto transcooler + you have a trans cooler in front of the radiator. all the temps will climb a little as it get hotter outside.
air pockects are not common in the 6.0 but can happen. i have always just let the truck run for 30 min or so to hit operating temp with the cap off and let it purge itself
ya the fans plugged in... thanks for the input. looks like I got some of yall thinkin. sounds like letting any extra air outta the cooling system could get the temps back down. Ill just keep an eye on it and post back
If you have an air bubble the pump will cavitate which will keep the coolant form circulating throughout the system check the temp difference between the upper and lower radiator hoses.
