If you have 02 sensors after the Cats and you remove the Cats you will get a check engine light. Now removing the Cats will definatly make the truck louder but it will gain you next to nothing in performance gains and may even make you lose a little. What I can tell you for sure is your truck will stink like crap from the nasty exhaust...

The sensors after the cat will throw a check engine light because the exhaust that was supposed to be getting cleaned up by the Cats is now loaded with nasty gases and the computer cannot adjust the engine enough to clean it up.

You may not be subject to emissions inspections, but aren't you required to have the safety inspection? If so, read on:

PA DEP I/M - Information for Drivers in "Other Counties"

To get rid of the CEL after cat removal, you need some kind of chip or simulator to send the correct signal to the ECU to keep the engine running as though all things were normal.

Something like this:

SINGLE MIL Oxygen Sensor Simulator, MIL-Eliminators.com

Since you just want to make noise, consider:

Truck and Train Horns : Air Horn Kits : SuperiorHorns.com

This will get you noticed:

Whatever floats your boat.

Yes even if you leave the O2 sensors in without the cats you will still get a check engine light. Like stated above you might be able to find a programer to fool the Pcm into thinking the Cats are there but to me it seems like a lot of hassle to make your truck smell like crap and pollute the air. And keep in mind that it is illegal in the US to tamper with a Cat so most shops wont touch it. If you are removing them yourself thats different still illegal but unless you have inspections you probably can get away with it untill you sell the truck that is..

My guess would be that you splice it into the wiring between the o2 sensor and the PCM...
