People use them, they are definitely not as safe as just using rims with less backspacing. I know a few people use them on the rear wheels so the truck tracks the same on front and back. But I would just get appropriate rims for your application.
Yes your wheels won't turn in the same position that they do now. If they hit the bumper, you can just trim it until they don't hit.

I was going to space out the bumper but don't know how far I'll need to do it if I runspacers so it will clear.
Spacers are okay. Would rather get wheels with different backspacing. If you're going to use them, use aluminum ones. Also use PLENTY of Loctite on the studs when you secure the spacer. Torque them well. There have been accidents where the spacer and wheel will come off together because the people don't use Loctite on the studs and/or torque properly when putting the spacer on.
Yea I know all that. I'm not new to the idea of spacers, I'm just wondering what kind of issues I'll run into with my bumper and how big of a spacer to run for my radius arms not to rub.

What size spacers are you looking to use? With small spacers, you may not need to adjust the bumper.
Also, I can't remember if the 9th generation trucks also have this, but some of the earlier trucks have an adjustment bracket that allows you to move the bumper up slightly. My '88 has that.

I don't think they do. I'd love if I could move it up an inch or so. The valance is the only thing I've had issue with.

Just on the road, most off road it will see is driving through some grass or a dirt road but even that is unlikely. I won't be doing any aggressive stuff that would test the suspension.
