4x4 front gear not reverse cut?
I have a 76 f250 that I tried to buy new gears for the front end. Its a Dana 44 HD and I bought the reverse cut gears but the ones that came out of it were forward cut I think. Is this possible for a ford? the pinion is on the low, drivers side with the ring riding on the passenger side.

Sounds like you got half ton gears. The f150's had the high pinion reverse cut D44. Your d44hd is the standard low pinion unit.
Why can't you just take the gears back and get the right ones?

Bought them awhile ago on ebay. My mistake, I thought all Fords had the reverse cut gears. Thanks for the answer. I'll get some regular gears for about $50 and try to sell the reverse cut.
