to all of the more experienced guys, on the subject of vin # codes.
the 6th place on my plate is a 'R'
F10V6R- (production #'s)
i'm getting two locations in my research on my 56 f100.
for the build location….
Richmond, va
or
San Jose, ça
then the production code is 19J737
which i'd like to understand…
That would be San Jose, The 6 indicates 1956 and for that year the plant R designation was San Jose. The Richmond, CA. plant closed and 1956 production moved to San Jose, along with the R designation.
I believe that the 19J737 would indicate 19th day of Sept (J) production # 737
F10 - - V --- 6 - - R - - 19 - - J - --- 737
F100 - V8- 1956-San- 19th- Sept- # produced that day
------ 272 ----- Jose-- day
--- --- LD
