Dodge Neon

I have to let the truck have a rest. I just can not pay the price for commuting in it, So I bought a little 2003 Dodge Neon. Does anyone know of a good active forum for that car. I have not found one, but there are a lot of them around. Sorry, had to do it for $$ reasons. But keeping the truck, and the expedition. Just commuting to work in this little thing.

Thanks

Google is your friend.

"Dodge neon owners ..." popped up with "dodge neon owners club":

www.neons.org • Index page

Looks ok, from the couple items I sampled. Like FTE, don't appear they cuss much--unlike some brand x forums.

All Dodge, all the time:

Dodge Neon - DodgeForum.com

And again:

Dodge Neon Photo Gallery, Reviews, Specs and Neon Models

Those ought to keep you up all night. Do the search, find more.

Hey, I'm with you on gas. We have a Fusion rental right now, and my wife took it this weekend instead of our pillow barge LS430. My guess is the gas savings will pay at least one day's rental....

I am a member of dodgetalk.com for a lady friend of mine's stratus. They are helpful however the car section of the forum is kind of slow to get answers from sometimes.

How times have changed. I just went over to allpar.com -- which used to be a huge mopar forum. Now it's some kind of info site.

They did have a section for some common neon issues

Plymouth / Dodge Neon repairs and problems

Might be worth a look,

hj

timing belt at 100,000 miles, and cam position sensor every 25,000 miles.
water pump and alternator every 45-50k miles.
other than that, the one i worked on for the girl across the street was pretty trouble free. it had 185,000 miles on it when we flipped it for a sentra.
also, they are made of very thin metal. basically throw away cars.
a minor bump in the front will require replacing fenders, hood, and grill every time.
and if the hod gets bent, there is a very good chance the rad support will bend too.
in 6 years i had to put 4 noses on the thing, pulling the rad support 3 of the 4 times.

Depends on the year. The 1st gen Neons were junk and had engine issues - heads would crack, I think. The one my wife had - which was an early '00 model - was a fairly decent little car and I was surprised how roomy it was inside. I'm 6'2", ~200lbs and I had no problem getting in or out of that car - plenty of leg room for driving, also.

No rear bumper, though - found that one day when it was below-zero cold outside and the wife bumped something with that molded plastic "bumper" on the rear of the car and put a huge crack in it - I got under the car to have a look and found out that there is absolutely nothing behind that molded plastic - it was just there for appearances...

That's no joke!! It was in '99, and a '99 Neon. I'd never been in one before. I banged my head on the roof edge getting in, and, on the way out!! Luckily I had some T3's left over to treat a knot on either side of my head, let alone jamming my neck!!

I used to have a Neon and now have a stratus that I use to commute because the Desiel was killing me so I parked the F250 except on weekends. I have to say every time I needed help with either of these two cars, I posted on the neon and dodge forums and they are nothing like chevytalk and ford-trucks.com. And they never answered me or if they did it was not like the help we get here.
