Ill start with the "My E4OD is acting up" question, so when I first got this truck it would be hunting for a gear around 35mph, replaced the tach sensor since below 1500rpm I had no tach. Tach now works correctly but now its hunting for a gear around 40-45mph, normally if I lock out OD itll behave normally but might still get it hunting once in a while, every other speed it works flawlessly and with recent tranny cooler and temp gauge install its staying nice and cool (think I might have hit 200 once, otherwise 180ish). Easy fix or time to start saving for a bullet proofed E4OD?
Now for the intercooler question, planning on putting an air/water intercooler on here shortly (local company and with radiator + a/c condenser + tranny cooler space behind grill is at a premium) but Ill be honest and admit I have no idea how to clock the 093 turbo and get the factory intake snail off so I can plumb the intercooler lines (pics appreciated ) since all Ive ever done turbo wise is stock replacements when a school bus shells a turbo....like what happened today.
If I where you I would go with a standard intercooler. If you position everything right it will fit depending on the cooler. That is what I had going on.
I set it at idle when I did the IP change otherwise I have no idea on condition/age (got the truck a year ago and its at 226k miles) so next time Im at the parts store Ill pick one up (they know me by name...)
As far as just using a standard air/air find me one that fits in front of the condenser, is 1" thick or less and doesn't require drilling holes in the radiator support (or removing ground clearance). Besides I like being different and the only real problems Ive ever heard of with air/water is to small of a radiator causing it to heat soak on long pulls (got biggest they offered that would fit and can add a second later if needed), while on the flip side an air/air heat soaks if your not going fast enough (like say offroading ) Besides fabbing up a mount for the intercooler and running the hoses all Im missing is some IAT gauges and that's just because I want to see what the delta is which will make it easier to tell if it heat soaks or not (would love to find one that compared 2 IATs and told you the diff)
I can help you dial in your FIPL if you need it. It can be a royal PITA! I want to intercool my 94 too, I have some interesting ideas. but right now I have no time, as I finally bought a house in Lakewood that is torn apart right now. It is on a third of an acre, do you need room to store any of those projects of yours? PM me.
