Some of you know I hate my wheels but can't find any I like. They all seem to be super chrome or black, black and chrome. After dipping my massively chrome grill on my Fusion, I decided to try it on my wheels. Worse case is I don't like it and I can peel it right off.
I wasn't sure how they'd look with the cladding but they're growing on me and just may hold me over until I find a wheel I like. The process was pretty simple. I removed the wheels, cleaned with Windex, mask off the lip and spray 3-4 good coats. It sticks well and has a nice satin glow to it. I was afraid it would be too flat but I'm pretty happy with it.
** EDIT** Forgot to mention, I used a little over 2 1/2 cans for all four wheels.
Thanks Russ. Yes it does and you can mix your own if you buy it by the gallon. Home Depot just has the spray cans in black. People are doing complete cars now. There's a new M3 in my parking garage that's done satin white.
Hahaha, my 8 year old daughter just said it makes the car look stronger. I asked what she meant, as she made a two arm muscle pose she said, "ARGHHHHHH".
I took it out this morning and it didn't affect the balance at all.

That's the nice thing about this stuff, it peels right off unlike paint. Worse case is you're out a few bucks for trying it. I think she's like it, go for it!
When you first start spraying it, it looks all weird, comes out blotchy and semi-translucent. After the second coat it thickens up and starts to self level.
Wow, you put it on thick if you used that much on 4 rims...
I did the rims, grill and head light buckets on my 99' F450. I don't think I used 3 cans for everything. I still have to do the front bumper, though I think I will do it in a flat black rather then dipping it. I think the dip would peel since I have to get up on the bumper just to check the oil and service the truck. I have been pretty impressed with how it has held up so far, this was 3 months ago and it looks just the same, it does make the dirt show up really well though.. Changes the whole look of the truck!
I only did one side to begin with.

I didn't even really clean the rims, I just knocked the dust off them with a rag. I stuffed rags and paper towels in the hand holes to cover up the brakes. I didn't even take time to mask off the tires... it peels off...
I had the grill out from working on the A/C , so I sprayed it and the head light buckets before putting it all back together.
