I have been noticing my front brake calipers dragging the last few times I drove my truck. They are very hot just after a few miles. Also my brake pedal is harder to push down and when compressed down, it will not come all the way back up unless I turn the truck off. I took the vac. hose off the booster (which is connected to the back of my Edelbrock 1406 carb. The truck did not want to run then, so i plugged the hose off, took care of the rough idle. Took it out the road for few miles and noticed the brakes where not dragging and they where not hot like before. But the pedal was very hard to push down and the truck took a longer distance to stop. So I guess I was wondering if the booster could be bad on my truck??

 

Yep sounds like a bad booster. If the pedal went to the floor I'd say bad master cylinder.

 

Ditto...I just went through this...I changed the master cylinder and booster. I had to adjust the rod down to the bottom of the rod. You can measure the extension on the old rod and match it to the new one. Jack one tire off the ground and see if it spins freely if it doesn't you will have to adjust the rod till the tire moves freely
