new build thread coming soon

I have a 1972 F250 H/D long bed, I'm running a 1999 UK Ford 90bhp 2.5 diesel with a manual 5spd and get around 35mpg but she doesn't like hills & it's not a V!

I've got a 1980 Buick 231 v6 which was rebuilt a few years back & modified to 220bhp and around 290lb-ft so will overhaul that & drop that in with it's TH350 auto box.. I'm collecting Jaguar Ifs & Irs, discs all round, parts for a 5-6 inch drop & easier parts availability for me, I've already got the Ifs & matching booster & M/C.

One big thing I'd like to do is hook up the column shift to the TH350 and get rid of the stick in the floor that could be a challenge!

I've priced up shot blasting & powder coating the chassis & stripping & weld through primered for the metal work, works out around $1500 for the whole truck then I can do the repairs as there are a few issues, I've been reading as many build threads as I can & have some awesome ideas so want to thank everyone that has done such good write ups & posted lots of excellent pictures, I hope mine is as good.

will keep you all posted.

Hi, yes they are, will need a little modification to the chassis to make this fit, it'll need kicking in about 3 inches, but the track width is only 2 inch narrower than standard I beam, fortunately my friend has just started his own business Insane Creations builds drag strip chassis tagged to 6 seconds so he's going to help me out, he's building a '41 ****** coupe with 565ci big block with twin turbo's putting out 2500bhp, oh & it'll be street legal . so I think I can trust him with mine
An Insane Day Out… | V8UK open day he did recently, top pictures are his ******

the Ferrari he built the chassis for and the 57 is in for engine rebuild & chassis mods for a 6 second tag.

oh well, all good plans get interrupted, the build is on hold for at least 6 months while I recover from a fractured spine! I was stopped in my car & was rear ended by an 18t lorry doing 40mph in a 30 zone!! 10 days in hospital & now in a back brace for months minimum will keep getting inspiration from here though

Hi Guys, still recovering from my accident but healing slowly.

I've been given some good news, a friend has said he can help me get started on my build, with the Jaguar front and rear suspension we've decided it's going to be easier to build a complete new tubular chassis as the original would need to be be pinched front & rear, also means I can get it really low with full Jaguar suspension travel!

Is there anywhere I can find chassis measurements as used by repair shops to ensure chassis is completely square & shows datum points for things like cab mount locations, bed mounting point locations, radiator support mounts etc?

As my truck is the only vehicle I have at the moment I need to keep it on the road as long as possible in case I'm cleared to drive again soon then as soon as the new chassis is ready I can swap the body over in just a few days..

thanks in advance for all information,
Rich Baker. UK
