Just curious about this has anyone ever done a swap from a 5.0 l v8 out of a 91 f-150 for a 3v 5.4 If so can you tell me the details and what kinda time or money it took
One suggestion for info on this type of swap would be to post this question at one of the many forums that Mustang owners have. This swap has been done in Mustangs. I myself have seen a Fox Mustang with a 4 cam 4.6L V8.
Installing a 5.4 3V in a truck should not be that difficult. Engine and trans mounts will have to be made. The electronic stuff is the real issue. The 5.4 is a OBD2 engine going into a OBD1 truck.
If it were me it would be much cheaper and easier to either rebuild the 302 or go with a fresh 351. If you use a late model roller block and aftermarket aluminum heads you can have performance greater then a stock 5.4L for less money.
I'm looking for the low end torque as I haul a lot of cattle with my pickup and that little 302 doesn't seem to have the ability to haul a 18' cattle trailer with its life and it has 4:11 gearing in it
