I installed the BulletProofDiesel FICM half shell. It is extremely well made and with the added voltage it starts instantly every time. Im very happy with it.
The circuit board is very easy to install. May not be the ideal solution, but was the cheapest and quickest which is what I needed. 6 months later and FICM voltage is always 48.5 - 49. Time will tell if my gamble to use the Dorman was worth it.
Sometimes the logic board is bad, so the Dorman part (or the half shell) will not fix your FICM problems. Additionally, the half-shell fix is not available for the early model FICMs.
btw - Ordering the Dorman 904-229 is no quicker than calling Ed and getting a FICM from him. Now getting the Dorman board from the local parts store will be faster ........

Didn't know that about the early models.
True, I guess using Ed's exchange program would be just as quick, although at additional cost, which was my biggest reason for going with the Dorman (and for not purchasing at a local store, they were a lot more expensive). Took a gamble, saved $100 bucks, and so far it has worked out. Again, may not be the ideal solution but if you're on a tight budget it's an option that's out there.
