I found a great deal for a 302, aod tranny, wiring harness and computer for the engine since its a fuel injected from a 85 pickup truck.
Before I buy this I was checking the mid fiftie site and saw they offer a crossmember for a 302. Do all 302's use the same mounting locations? If not does anybody have a link to a crossmember that will work, I can't seem to find one that specifies years for 302.
I believe they are all the same. I built my own frame mounts and used factory style block mounts, but have heard of many people happy with the crossmember style, either bolt in or weld in.
The only thing to watch is that if you have or may go to an IFS, the tubular crossmember style may not clear the IFS crossmember.
The dimensions of the mounting holes on the block are the same...however, there are different style motor mounts. Many like the early Mustang style with the single downward facing bolt...I personally like the one with the u-shaped bracket, it makes it easier to fabricate the mating mount on the frame. Most of the tubular SBF crossmember designs use the u-shaped mounts.
