With that much flex they are actually losing some of the bass they want for competition. It's all about looks. Same reason they put the 6.7 logos on it and 30" rims. I'll stick with my pair of 10s and matched hu/speakers. More than enough for the echo chanmber that is the inside of an Excursion.
Like most others, not my cup of tea, but that's a good show truck. I've built up my share of high end(read expensive) audio systems for the circuit and very few of them were focused on sound quality. For about a decade I paid my bills installing woofer walls, door panels and kick plate setups in trailer queens. That's a pretty good install, and a just as much time went into the stereo as it did in the truck conversion. Somebody paid some $ to end up with that. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if if they had leveled it, but for some reason everyone wants to go with the prerunner look this week.
That's a good mobile business card for somebody.
Trying to figure out how to phrase this in a PC manner(this is hard for me).
But THAT is the average client of a custom shop. My last large install was about a 20K job in a brand new Charger. Owned by a 20yr old that had never worked a day in his life, and needed to keep the rear seat for his 3 kids carseats.
I've been rolling with a crack across my windshield from pillar to pillar that I shook into it last summer. We were at a family BBQ in the park where my truck had been sitting all day in almost 100 degree weather. My wife's cousin asked me to demo the truck to his buddy so I said "sure, hop in". I fired it up and played a R&B song "My First Love" by Avante. It's starts out all slow and then slams into some hard bass. It shot a crack across the entire windshield. Everyone's jaw dropped. That particular day I had three 15 inch DB Drive Platinum Series subs running off two of their Platinum 4000 watt subs strapped together at 2 ohms. I have about three different sub/amp combos that I can plug into it. I really need to get the glass fixed...lol The entire windshield is tinted though so it's hard to see the crack from the outside.
