Saying hello from Tucson
Hello everyone,
My name is Brian and am now the proud owner of a 1984 F150 super cab.
Ive been storing it for a friend for the last 5 years and he recently decided he no longer wanted it.Well once i started really looking at it,washed and cleaned out the interior, I decided I did
I cleaned out the gas tanks installed a new fuel filter, primed the oil pump and it started right up.
But after idling for about 20 mins,4 rocker arm studs pulled out.so now im searching the forums for my next step.
Its a 351 W and all I know of its history,is the motor was rebuilt about 6 years ago was driven for 1 year then parked in my yard.it has a edelbrock intake and carb and if i remember right a RV cam.
I pulled the valve covers and it has the displacement cast into the heads, press fit rocker studs with rail rockers, does that mean its pre 1977 heads ? If i read tight the only way to get the casting numbers from the heads and block is to pull the heads and the starter.I dont mind pulling the starter, but dont really want to pull the heads at this time.
Pics up as soon as I wash it again,it just rained
Thanks for any help and TY for this site

Hello Bryan and first off welcome to FTE. Don't know if you did this already but you can join the Arizona chapter by clicking join chapter above the top post reply button. I am not sure on your question and not sure if you tried or not but you can try and ask in the 80-86 specific forum as they know more then just the Arizona chapter does on year specific. Me and my dad do have a 89 F250 351 but don't know to much about it other then both 351Ws we have and had have been great trucks. I do know that a lot of people here on FTE like the RV cams in the 351 W.
