Hello Ladies and Gents, it looks as if I’m going to get an opportunity to help out here. I hope to be able to uphold the high standards each of you has come to enjoy in our community.
With that, I’d like to share a story with you all. When I was 15, a neighbor who was a retired Ford parts guy helped me pull the heads off my car, get a valve job done, and reinstall the heads. It took a full day to get it apart and a full day after to re-assemble everything and get it all right.
He didn’t lay a hand to wrench; he just patiently stood by explaining to me what needed to be done, how I might do it, and in what order. He wasn’t too quick to get me out of a bind but rather made me think through it. Once the heads were off I’d swear it would never go back together again; I was honestly terrified, but it did go back together and it worked perfectly.
Thank you, Larry J. Webb for teaching me.
My point to this story? Today, I could remove and replace those heads blindfolded and I wouldn’t have that understanding if it were not for all of those folks who helped me along my learning path. That is one of the many functions of this site and its many forums: the improved knowledge of all through the contributions of individuals.
There are many questions here than may seem simple to you, but try to think back to that time when you were doing it for the first time and the fears and uncertainties that accompanied your actions. If you can, step up and help a fellow member out, they will be grateful for your contribution.
