337 Project Decoding VIN?

I know I have a 337 8EQ motor. And I know it is sitting in whats left of an F7. What I don't know is what year it is. The vin plate on the fire wall was to hard to read so I cleaned the frame where the vin was stamped and this is what I found. "Star"8"Star"8EQ9535"Star".

And if you need parts for that engine (pistons, rings, gaskets, valves, and maybe crank bearings) try Bob Selzam at Half Ton Fun in Jackson, NJ. 732-928-9421. (Closed Wed & Sat.)

Thank you Chuck for the year. And I have spoke to him before when I was going to put this motor in an F2 Dale. Kanter out of new jersey also lists some parts for this motor. Work picked up and I am just now starting it but the motor is almost out. It turns freely and had anti freeze and oil in so I'm hoping everything inside is in decent shape. The spark plug wires were rotted and the distributor is all rusted up so I may have to find a distributor. Other than that it is just aged.

337 Distributor

Send that distributor to "GMC Bubba" in Indy and he'll either make it like new or graft a Delco-Remy Chevy V-8 onto the shaft. He's the distributor guru of choice for all the Flathead guys on the Fordbarn.

Thanks for the info I'll look into that. The truck has a hydrovac underneath, I'm guessing it was for the rear breaks? Also there is a PTO coming off the transmission. I'd like to make use of it eventually I'm just not sure what for? Thanks
