Visit Washington?
But the fishing there is fabulous
I can think of few better places to trek through the woods.
(But have a huge caliber firearm - bears are no joke)
It's a bow hunters paradise, I bet Ted Nugent loves the place to tears...
Chuck Adams could write a whole book about it all by itself
If any of you are around Oak Harbor and run across James Frier, bosuns mate USN retired: Tell him I said hello and I still have the Schwinn bike he bought in Norfolk!
You'll likely find him in a local draft beer bar that has pool tables...
Black hair, a bit heavy, easy to get along with unless you are stupid
I still owe that man for the bike, dunno if we agreed on fifty or twenty for it. Things got kind of fast back then
We shared an apartment in Newport News when the Nimitz pulled in
AND I STILL HAVE THE BICYCLE!
DO NOT call him "JIM" - his name is James, and he insists on it
*IN FACT: Do me a favor if you find him, and get him on here to talk to me
~Dutch
PS: Prolly hangs out at the "Old Oak Harbor Inn"
PPS: You may need to tear his attention away from the waitresses...

Dutch, you aren't kidding about the boat thing. I'm really not a boat person, I see them as a hole in the water you throw money into, but other people's boating needs pays my bills now.
The thing I really missed from here was the trees. I like mountains, but prefer getting sneak peek views instead of seeing the whole range from 50 miles away. That's the sort of thing I grew up with.
House is probably completely covered by blackberries. There was a pool behind it, fence has been down for years now, probably a couple dead bodies floating in there. They just built a power substation in the southwest 20 acres. Someone was haying it I think, or maybe it's in medical marijuana now. I go buy when I'm up, just to watch it fade away.
"Smokey Point" blvd or whatever, formerly known as Highway 99 in part.
Because housing was in very short supply, dad, mom and I lived on a goat farm on Vashon Island.
I've vacationed in WA many times since.

I usually take the small ferry from Vancouver Island to Port Angeles and enjoy camping and traveling around the Olympic Peninsula.
I like to attend the tractor shows and the big flea market in the Seattle/Tacoma area at the "Starlite" drive in.
I've been to Whidbey Island a couple times and find it a really scenic area. The road and bridge off of it is spectacular.

Quite a place, we would stop and look when we were kids and we went for a "Sunday drive".
Was up last summer and the parking was so bad we only had a short look, but my kids thought it was pretty cool.
Every once in a while, someone flys under the bridge. Some eat it. Boats going through at the wrong time will eat it too.
Not a place to go swimming when the tide is moving through there.

~I don't see any other way to explain it
(?) I'm trying to wrap my mind around this statement tho:
"Well I'm not from another state but I like to visit Washington a couple times a year."
~You want to be careful of recreational substances...

Ft. Worden only US Army Base named after a US Naval officer (commander of USS Monitor).
Answer to the riddle: I'm from Canada. We don't have states here, instead we have provinces and territories.
Just a hop, skip and a jump from the Olympic peninsula though. Actually a ferry ride away, as I'm on the Southern tip of Vancouver Island. A fellow I know who used to live in Oak Harbor said he was able to see Vancouver Island on clear days.
