Places to see!
Hey folks
So I'm not sure where you guys make the separation between northern and southern cali, so I'll start here and see what I get..
Anywho, come the end of May and early June, my parents and I will be making a road trip down to California. Our main destination is Yosemite. We'll have a little bit of spare time to check out some stuff on our way down.
For the most part we'll be travelling down I5. Tentatively the plan is to take 5 south to Redding, then turn west and go check out Whiskeytown. After that, we'll head through Napa Valley, and onto Yosemite. On the way back we might take 5 and then 101 up the coast through Crescent City, then hop back onto 5 in Oregon.
Because everyone could only get a weeks worth of time off, that's how long we'll be down there. May 29th through June 5th. Most nights we are going to try and camp.
So, where would be some good places to check out? Towns to drive through? Ones to avoid? State parks to visit and/or camp at?
Thanks in advance

Shasta Caverns is really cool. Redding has the sundial bridge which is very popular, but I havent been there. You may considering taking hwy 96 from I5 to 101. Very pretty drive. None of the towns youll go through are much to speak of but its a river road all the way. Lots of bald eagles nests through the drive.

Sacramento is on the 5. I would recommend the California Auto Museum and the train museum. Also, Old Town Sacramento is great. It is located right on the river and you can even take a steam boat ride. Lots of great places to eat and buy souvenieres. Also recommended is seeing the State Capitol building and Sutter's Fort State Park. Jag
