noob....
For instance, the week of August 15-21 +/- anyone who is willing to make the drive will be getting together in Kalispell and making a Glacier Park Run to the Summit along with hanging out, wandering around the countryside, and all that nw Montana offers. Nothing has been hammered out as far as schedule of events that I know of - should be a pretty laid-back time to just relax.
This is the peak of the tourist season here and accomodations can be hard to come by, SO..........
Campers (tent, RV, bedroll on the ground, etc) are welcome at my place where the pasture (scattered trees next to State Forest land) will become a campground. Water, some electric and outhouse(s) will be available, along with grills or firepit for cooking. The rest is up to you to bring with you. Let me or Dick (fordlover1951) know you are coming and we'll get directions to you or meet you in town and escort you out here (12 miles N of Kalispell)
Don't stay away if you don't have camping stuff. I have a bunkhouse that sleeps 2, plus a camping trailer that will be here. Just let me know if you need these so I can clean them out. They double as storage facilities in the off season
I'm sure cooking tools can be shared around the fire.
Mattsbox99 is collecting some of the guys in Billings? before heading over this way. Sorta like the Good Guys tour across America, only smaller. If you can't make the whole time come for part of it. You're welcome to drop in and out as you want.

It sounds like mtflat will allow some plinking ( bring your .22s ) so we can for sure get together and do that one afternoon and then slide it into a nice cook out. I have a couple grills...one briquette and one gas and we will no doubt have some campfires to cook over too...for you that are prone to adventure. Right now, I am looking at going up the Going To the Sun Highway on that Wednesday, so some of the tourist traffic is slightly slowed. You will definitely want to bring your cameras along... the scenery is magnificent and we will stop at a couple places along the way for some photo ops.
I don't know if mtflat has horseshoes or a pit, but the day we get together for plinking and dining, would be a great day for a horseshoe tournament. That ought to be fun, since I haven't tossed a horseshoe in years!
I will be sitting down and doing something of an itinerary, but I think laid back is the main plan for our first meeting. Perhaps, if it's a success, we can plan on making this meet an annual event. But will cross that bridge if we ever get to it.
OK..'nuff babbling for this time. I'm enjoying the first sunburn I've had in a long time, so I'm doing whatever I can think of to distract me.
Bring your .22's or whatever. My youngest son shoots his .338 Win Mag regularly. You'll find a little of everything around here including muzzle loaders. The backstop is a mountain side and the targets are setup in sand/gravel so nothing gets too far away.
Speaking of horse shoes.... I personally don't care if we have "regulation" pits. And I'll get the dimensions and get em to you anyway. My idea of a good game of horse shoes is to have enough people at each end so that you don't have to walk two miles per game. The rest is just a formality.
