leaf spring questions. 3 leaf/2 leaf
i have a couple of questions about leaf springs. bear with me, while i explain the situation. thanks
i bought an 87 4x4 "F-350" for some parts for my 90 f250. its in quotes because i wonder if its actually a 350. it had 350 badging but it had a semi-float rear end and the ttb front. the guys swore it was a 350 because his dad had it before him and why would he put 350 badges on it? the whole reason i went to look in the first place is cuz i was hoping it had a d60 in the front, being an f-350. well i dont know all the criteria to be a true 350 but whatever, i still bought it for parts.
anyway the front springs have 3 leaves to them where my 250 has only 2. im hoping to use them to bring the front of my truck up a couple of inches because they have a little more arch than mine do.
they have a c shaped "retainer" on one end of the leaves and it looks like a hole on the other end where another retainer should go. are there supposed to be two retainers? if not it looks like the one end would just kind of flop once its installed. they came off the truck that way and i dont remember what it looked like underneath there, but the truck sat level in the front and looked great. both mine and donor have 5.8L.
so. is one retainer all they need? also, out of curiosity, did ford make an f350 with ttb and a semi-float rear-end? did they just put heavier springs on and call it a tonner?
sorry it got wordy but i wanted to explain it well. thanks in advance for any insight.
Any info on the little keeper assembly on the forward end of the springs? Are they supposed to be on the rearward end too?
