Ford Software Update ??

Hi All , My 03 F250 SD 7.3 is finally ready to pick up from the Auto trans shop after a total rebuild and upgrade . Shop just called saying I need to get the ford dealer ship to check for softwear updates ....... Do I need to do this for another $100.00 , Does this model have upgrades or any other info on the subject would be great ....... Thanks brownie
