Rear brake issues

So I did rear brakes on my truck. Had to impromptu do the right rear axle hub seal and bearings too.
New shoes, wheel cylinders and hardware. Take it for a spin and uh oh! Pedal goes to the ground.
Take a peak underneath and realize the left rear flare nut is loose. Retighten the nut.

I went for a drive today to get some dinner and the pedal mushy. I pumped it up and it got a little better then locked the rear axle.
I tried this twice with the same result.

what gives?

You have a bigger problem, even with your rear line disconnected that should not have affected your front brakes, which do most of your stopping. Your pedal should not go to the floor no matter what shape your rear brakes are in as long as your fronts are functioning correctly.

If you're lucky a good bleeding on all 4 wheels will be all you need.

I second that... Don't make sense to have little to none at one push... If you pump it and it works then locks them up you got air in the lines

Also don't forget to bleed the RABS valve, unless you previously bypassed it.

RABS = rear antilock brake system
The RABS valve is mounted to the driver side frame rail under the front of the cab. There is a bleeder valve on it that needs to be bled after the rear axle.

Maybe check the vacuum readings coming from the vacuum pump (located on the top drivers side of the engine).

That's the A/C compressor, the vacuum pump is on the R/S, (passenger side), below the alternator.

On my '93 & '94, both w/o air con, the vacuum pump is on the top, towards the drivers side...

Interesting, never ran into that. Then again, I don't know I've run into an IDI that wasn't factory with A/C.

That would make sense, my '92 was V-belt and all the accessories were traditionally located.
