Coolant filter location

This is where I installed it, I took a few more pics, so if anyone is interested I could post them to show the mount and plumbing (thanks to Travis)

I like that man! I would like to see more... also curious is that a water temp gauge plumped into the overflow line?

Alex I'll post more in a few days, busy packing up for our seasonal adventure at the lake, going to leave tomorrow a.m.
It is a water pressure gauge, the highest I have seen it get to is 20 psi I just thought it would be interesting.

Ah I see.
I was curious because when you install the coolant filter (at least the one I did...dieselsite kit) you have to use that port in the side of the pump to create the bypass line to the filter... And from what ive seen people use that port for a water temp sensor for a water temp gauge in the truck.

Ive wanted to put a water temp gauge, but am unsure where is a good place to put it because the side port on my pump is already used. I thought maybe i could get a T or something at that port, but havent seen what thread etc is.

Nice pics, and yes the 20 psi are not that great that somebody thought about a big pressure there
BTW, good luck with your seasonal advernture at the beautiful lake.

Plug, this can be very difficult to remove, some will require different tools to remove. I was lucky mine came out easily, if you have not drained the coolant, now would be a good time to put a pan or something under to recover the coolant.

The next pictures will show routing of hoses and connections
I used brass fittings purchased at local hardware stores. 5/8 in hose from water pump to the filter housing

Now the hose goes to the inlet side on the filter housing

This is the outlet on the top of the housing

it uses 3/8 hose and tee

It will go to the tee added to the hose that comes from the radiator to the degas bottle

Thanks Rob, here is another pic that shows placement a little better. I just had to move the washer res over about 4 inches.

did you make up a custom mount plate for the degas bottle and washer fluid there? so that you could relocate the washer fluid bottle more toward the passenger side fender?

pretty slick.

I mounted my coolant filter (the exact same coolant base actually) on the other side of the coolant bottle to the stock degas/washer-fluid mount plate. I had to make up a little adapter plate to stand it up high enough and also had to be careful not to drill through the degas bottle when drilling the mount holes. it was tight in there next to the hood hinge when closed, but worked well. however, my hoses run up and over the washer fluid bottle, so not the cleanest install...

yours is definitely an improvement - nice work!

Rich, looks very good, very good pics, congrats.

Its the same path Im going to follow, just the position of the filter en base are different.

BTW how has been working the valve for tha AC mod? In what hose did you put the valve in the closer to the passenger side or the other more to the midline? I a have read that it could be installed in any of them

I had to modify the washer fluid brackets with some sheet aluminum 1ft wide X 7in high, to remount the washer tank and also mount the coolant filter.
I did not take pics of this process because I really didn't know if this mod would be successful. I think these pics may help to see how I did it. there is possibilities for this to be improved I'm sure. I think the adapter bracket I made was approx. 3 to 4 inch longer than original and extended toward the engine to allow just enough room to add the filter.

Jose, I haven't done anything with the ac mod. The last time I was checking it I was wondering if it was even shutting off, I could feel heat from the hose on both sides of the valve. I am going to take it off but leave it connected to the vacuum and test it using all of the possible vac hose options (colors) so I can tell exactly when it is being actuated by the position of the ac controller.

Ok, the valve Im going to install its similar if not the same, like the Dieselsite kit and, you can see directly if it is working or not for its design Glenn connected the vacuum in the blue hose under the dash and with good results as he told me. But keep posting with your findings.
