need help with traction!

of late I've been lacking with traction. i have been stuck in the mud 5 times in the last week. and it will just be on top of the ground. i have Firestone destination AT 285/75/16E tires, they have good tread left. when i get stuck only 1 tire will spin front and rear, and the truck has a positive rear end. what can i do to help this? most of the time all it takes is a small pull and im good, Saturday i backed a trailer up unloaded then could not move an inch. what is the problem tires rear end?

some said i need to get mt tires and a Aussie locker, or a Detroit Tru Trac. i dont mud but i work in fields on the farm all the time, and my truck empty is +8000lbs with the front end very heavy with the diesel and a warn m12000 up there. i tow all the time and i do not want the truck to grab in turns when im towing. so what do you think?

and like all others im not looking to brake the bank on up grades.

Then you do not have a positive rear end.

Probably need a rebuild on the clutch packs in the limited slip rear.

But if you're doing all that just put a real locker in and call it a day.

First just change the gear lube in your rear and add friction modifier to it with the new lube. That's if its a limited slip.

I agree you need something with more "bite" Dont go all out and by Toyo MT's when they will runn you well over 1200-1400 bucks I like my Goodyear Duratracs on my F-150 they pull damn good, I go places in 2wd i was getting stuck in 4wd with the old Nitto's, another option is the Sooper STT's they will both pull decent, I cant tell you the life expectancy on the Goodyear's yet because i have only had them maybe 3-4000 mile's the review's were of people stating they were getting 50-60000 out of them. The cooper STT's will get similar number's

is a Aussie locker in the rear going to make it drive different?
i dont want it to wear my tires when turning.

i'm looking at putting one in the front to help, unless it will make the turning radius a lot more?

Get a Yukon ZIP locker. Selectable like an ARB but more affordable I hear.

when im not in 4x4 the front will not be a problem as the hubs unlock.

A locked front will make it hard to drive while it is locked in, (least it did on 38's with no power steering) If you have a Posi trac rear then both tire's should pull...

ok, i guess i will just do fluid on the rear, and look at the lockers.
most of the time in 4x4 i do need to turn to back a trailer up or drive through a field, but only having one will pulling is killing me as the front axles weighs 4650lbs and it sinks.
