I have a 91 ford bronco with a 351. it all started when i was driving on the highway and i stepped on the gas to downshift and the minute i downshifted the whole truck just shut off. I could only get the motor to turn but not start. I figured out that the pump would not turn on. When i got it towed back the truck started right up. I thought it was the fuel pump so i replaced it. but that didnt' solve the problem. everytime it died the pump wont' turn on. I thought it was the pump relay and i replaced it. that didn't work either. i had the pressure checked and it was fine and had some of the ignition parts tested and they were fine. could it be the computer or something. Please help me!!
a few years back i had a ranger that did what you describe, it turned out to be the roll over switch. it had crapped up internally and made contact sometimes oand some times it would not. i removed the switch and jumped it out to test it and it was bad ,of course you dont leave it jumped out or during a accident the pump could continue to run and dump fuel all over the place. this would be a very dangerous situation
On the older EFIs (like '84-88), it was directly in front of the clutch pedal location. I don't know what year it happened, but eventually (by '92) it moved to the R kick panel immediately below the dash under the glove box.
